I think competition is realistic and builds resilience better than 'every child wins a prize' approach.

The other thing is that sport etc still needs to maintain the basic element of fun.

It is when it is all about winning at the expense of others and the kids' own sense of fun and enjoyment that the rails come off. 

Pretty soon kids learn they can only get rewards from sport if they win and are the best at everything.


But, I sometimes get carried away with my opinions.



I completely agree.

I played sport for fun, not to win...which was a good thing 'cause I never fucking won anything.


No wonder I'm an Eels fan.
