Things Wrong with the World Today

Recommended Posts

A thread to make observations about things that are happening that just shouldn’t be happening.

My first one is today’s news headlines.

Apparently back in 2014 Abbott and his cronies asked then Social Service Minister Kevin Andrews for some options to save money in welfare.

One option was some pretty heavy cuts to welfare for people under 30 etc.

Not here to defend fuckwit Liberals, but I’m pissed off that this makes the news headlines as if it was a done deal when it was just a fucking brainstorming stupid idea that never had legs.

We apparently live in a world that demands outrageous headlines, so every piece of shit gets trawelled up when ‘real’ stories don’t get a look in.

Part of my job working in a casino is that you have to do refresher training courses every couple of years such as RG (Responsible Gambling), RSA (Responsible Service of Alcohol), Recognising Illegal/Undesirable Activity, Bullying/Harassment/Discrimination etc etc. There were 9 refresher training courses I got through last night.

There was a new one this year which was a complete WTF...LGBTI awareness?? Since when should I need to do a training course on how we're all supposed to be kind to the  bloody lesbians?

The other thing that bugs me is that Snr Mgment announced a while back that there is a 5 year plan to have 50% females in Senior Management positions as part of their Gender Equality Plan. Whatever happened to hiring the best person for the job?... who just might happen to be a male, he gets overlooked and the fucking chick gets the position. Just finished a doing course which included sexual discrimination last night and yet the bosses are doing just that against us males.

At last count, it's now LGBTQIA. I think all these people should be entitled to exactly the same rights as any other citizen and I struggle to see where they are missing out. I watch a lot of this Gender Politics on YT and 98% of it is dumb AF. Even this alliance makes no sense. LGB are forms of sexuality, having nothing to do with gender, at its most basic level. Lesbians don't agonise over whether they're women or not. Their gender identity is clear as day - they're women who have sex with other women.

I, for Intersex, isn't a gender or a sexuality. It's a chromosomal abnormality. The level of intersex can vary hugely from something minor, like having a huge, penis-like clitoris, to internal conditions that, often, the person themselves may not even know. They might have a vagina and a prostate. The huge majority of people have either XX or XY chromosomes. Intersex people can have other combinations, like XXY, or they may have a mixture - XX in some cells but XY in others. Many of their issues are purely medical, not political. Often a person may have completely male organs but a completely female endocrine system, meaning female hormones. This can be controlled by drugs if necessary or, in some cases, the person may feel quite comfortable with it. There are plenty of effeminate men who lead comfortable successful lives.

Yes...all the discrimination is now against straight white males (more so if you are Anglo/Saxon). What shitted me in the Casinos was that the poofters could get away with virtual murder (drug dealing, sickies for months without having to produce doctors certificates ) and because the boss was a poofter, no action was ever taken. If you reprimanded any of them for their wrongdoings, you were immediately labelled a spiteful homophobe.

As for 50% of females in Senior Management...good luck with that. Remember when they made Weaponhead Porter a manager...you will get plenty of that with the Gender Equity Plan. All Corporates are just playing the "Good Corporate Citizen" game because they don't want the bad media coverage and being labelled as sexist.

Well, he was probably demanding sexual favours in return.

That’s the other thing that irks me these days, the fact that people of other than heterosexual orientation are portrayed as so much more virtuous that everyone else.

Kind of like if you supposedly experienced discrimination in some way then you are somehow an expert on what is right and you would never do those things to someone else.

I have seen plenty of evidence to suggest that if you experience discrimination, you can be quite angry, vindictive and generally fucked in the head.

It's not really surprising that many people who experience discrimination develop a 'I hate the whole world around me' complex.

They think the world hates them. They just see it as giving back in kind.

But then there are the others who have experienced discrimination and tried to rise above it. I know quite a few of these people, and I always applaud them when I hear of how they take the high road and try to either ignore the discrimination, or calmly try to educate the person directing it towards them. I'm not sure I could be so level-headed if I was in their situation, to be honest.

So they made a woman a manager at your work and it didn't turn out well. And because of this one instance they should rethink hiring women in senior roles again?

Wow, You’re girlfriend has really done a job on you, hasn’t she?

Fair point I suppose.

No no no....in the Casino there is probably 250 managers  all over the place. I have absolutely no problems with women being promoted to any management roles provided that they have the ability to do the job. The ones that I was referring to were just no up to the role.

And that's fair enough.

Jobs should be based on merit, not what gender/colour/religion/whatever you are. But I do see a need for companies to hire more women in high roles. I think the policies that stipulate hiring a certain number of women are there mostly to help those situations where there is both a man and a woman equally qualified for a role. In the past, in that situation the role has usually gone to the man, based on the fact he is not going to take maternity leave at any point. They are trying to change that.

Are you saying that I haven't always thought this way?

Because I haven't, actually. But I have for quite a while, well before I met my current girlfriend.

Working in a female-dominated industry like I do quite often opens your eyes to a different point of view.

And they have brainwashed you into thinking that all women are hard done by! I have been in the workforce for 46 years and for 45 of those females have got equal everything including pay and promotion opportunities. You don't work for Sydney City Council do you, because they are full of cranky lesbians who think they are hard done by yet the occupy all the top positions.

The problem with affirmative action via ratios is that for the most part once it is truly recognised as desirable within any given organisation, by those in power within that organisation, it is no longer needed.

Nah, just a joke. Like in Seinfeld when a girl (possibly Elaine) looks at George and says “wow, you’re mother has really done a job on you”.

Yes, agreed being around women certainly can give you a different perspective..........and access to lots of pussy.:hystery:

I was perving on a road worker the other day.

Toned but slender arms and legs, tanned. Long blond hair.

I thought it was Sharapova until he turned around.

I guess he might have had one of those cranky lesbian bosses.
